  • Spiritual Diets

I have been changing my spiritual diet. I have tried so many different ways but like actual diet, sometimes they failed. I don't believe that any diets can failed, it is all based on people's motivation. If they sticks with it, follows up and walk through it, the diet will succeed.

I know, because I have tried many diets before and none motivated me to stick through. I hate to having diets, because I never believe in its success.

This time, I am making a vow to stick with it. For the average of 125 pounds, 5'4 woman, I am 147 pounds overweight. What should I do to lose all that? My goal is to be 180, because see, I have heavy bones. I used to wear same sizes with my friend who was 120 pounds and I was 200 pounds.

Weight is not the major point of what we should look at.I never cared for the weights, it is just numbers. We should look at inches. That is what all matters. SIZES. Not weight. People have many different heights, so weight are dependable on individual.

Then I just thought of it. If I am going to make a vow to stick with my diet to lose weight, I should make a vow to stick with my diet to lose all the junk with my spiritual walks. Now I have two diets that I am making vow to stick with.

I am vowing to lose weight so that I may be healthy, not just to change my looks but to make myself feel better. I am also making a vow that I will strengthen my walk with God. If I should remember to eat properly, I should also remember to read His words regularly.

Since my children will be going to school this year [oldest is soon to be 5 and youngest is 3. He is going to Headstart, hopefully] I am needing to start a rountine. Something that gets us going throughout the day.

That is my other weakness as a mom. I don't have a schedule that helps us to grow together. I've grown up without schedule and I never had any discipline. My knowledge and experince are not that great to help me as a mom, a christian woman and a person who's trying to be healthy.

As a human, I have plenty of flaws and weakness. Thanksfully God overlooks it and only focus on our heart. What's more important is there than God in our lives?

I like your idea of getting healthy from the inside out!  Good luck with both.  And, you're very right, nothing is more important in our lives than God.  As humans, we get so easily lost in the day to day struggles, that we can lose sight of that simple, yet essential, idea.

The only thing with diets are they are designed for short-term, not long term. You have probably heard this many times "it's a whole lifestyle change' that is needed. Diets are set-up for failure because they make us focus on food even more! Plus we get upset with the foods we can't eat. I think the best thing to do is eat the foods you enjoy, but just limit how much. Learn to listen to your hunger. I want to start exercising, but I also struggle with motivation.

I wanted to combine my relationship with God with weightloss too. In fact, I went to the bible and am still reading to find what the Word says on weight, gluttony, overeating, food etc. There's actually a book I really want to get called "The Fat Demons" by Dr. E. Marlene Hunt that talks about the spiritual side of weight gain. However it's out of print and I can't find it anywhere!
